Why this song is important:

This song was sampled in The 45 King’s The 900 Number.
That song was sampled in DJ Kool’s iconic Let Me Clear My Throat.
The Ed Lover dance on Yo! MTV Raps, and many other movies, make extensive use of both the DJ Kool song and the 45 King sample.

It’s a simple looped sample from the beginning of this song, but probably one of the most recognizable samples in all of hip-hop music.

To be honest, even with a mildly religious upbringing, I’ve lost my faith in religion. It’s not that I don’t believe in a higher power or forces beyond human understanding, it’s just that the people who have pushed religion onto me have failed…between the preachers who couldn’t keep politics out of the pulpit, the people who have told me to believe in a scripture that they themselves had reneged on in many instances, and the massive crowds who have used religion to serve their own benefits, I find it hard to believe.

I’d elaborate further, but this is as personal as I feel comfortable getting.
